It's that time again! Yes, once again, we have again caught the travel bug! This time, we are in Malaysia for two weeks. Jason found some cheap air fares and we secured some time off work. Jason was originally thinking Fiji, but I (Sarah) wasn't too keen on sitting on a beach for two weeks. So when the air fares came up for Malaysia, we thought this would give us variety such as great food, exciting culture, awesome shopping, and topped off with a few days on a beachy island.
After circling KL airport for 20 minutes with Reese Mastin playing for about the 7th time, we finally landed and gladly disembarked from our eight hour flight.
The first thing that hits you is the humidity. It's like stepping into a steam shower. Friendly locals gave us directions to the Star Shuttle.
Jason bought a can of 100 Plus from a 70s looking vending machine next to Christmas-coloured payphones and bright aqua seats as the humidity fogged up my expensive camera lense. As you could appreciate, I was reluctant to take many photos in these conditions.
The 45 minute drive gave us a glimpse of the controversial palm oil plantations that seem to be consuming all other areas of vegetation in this country.
We then saw glimpses of the city skyline and the iconic twin towers.
We were weary but glad to finally arrive at our hotel room at the Park Royal with a breathtaking view of the city.
We popped out for a walk to the hawker markets where we had spicy lobster and fish for dinner, which inspired us to return the following evening.
